WoodSyn, LLC is introducing wood wool cement (WWC) wall systems to the United States to make wildfire-resilient, durable housing practical in the Wildland-Urban Interface.
In the near term, they will build their first cohort using certified WWC components sourced from the EU, while they complete the U.S. adoption work that matters most: repeatable assemblies, QA/QC, installation guidance, and building department submittal documentation that can be approved and repeated without custom reinvention.
In Phase 1, WoodSyn will deliver a 6–12 home Tribal housing cohort with Habitat for Humanity Northern Arizona using this EU-sourced material. The goal is to convert early demand into a bankable case for a U.S. manufacturing facility near priority firesheds. Once domestic manufacturing is established, they will be positioned to convert small-diameter restoration logs into WWC wall systems at meaningful scale, creating a stable end market that supports Value-Based Forest Restoration.
They are also applying this same building-system approach to Tribal community facilities where stewardship and long-term outcomes matter. On Hopi, WoodSyn will support the Sustaining Roots Initiative alongside the Hopi Tribal Housing Authority as the housing and land-use lead and the Hopi Tribal Economic Development Corporation as the economic and property management anchor, with Red Feather Development providing home health and safety support, Reztoration Health & Healing / Scottsdale Recovery providing the sober living program layer, and Tawaw Architecture Collective leading Indigenous design for the Ngömaapi (Juniper) House. This work is rooted in community-led planning, including a Hopi working session in Bacavi focused on sober living operations and scalable duplication.
WoodSyn creates a durable end market for small-diameter restoration logs while delivering fire-resilient affordable housing. At full plant scale, WoodSyn models ~58,250 tCO2 stored per year in products (biogenic storage plus binder mineralization), alongside measurable housing and community outcomes.
