Today, we release the third episode of our podcast, Untangling Climate Finance.

In this episode, our guest is author and carbon market expert, Paula DiPerna.

Jay and Paula connected in August to discuss her latest book Pricing the Priceless: The Financial Transformation to Value the Planet, Solve the Climate Crisis, and Protect Our Most Precious Assets, which explores a financial transformation challenging traditional notions of valuing our natural assets.

In the book, Paula highlights the paradox of valuing the indispensable atmosphere at zero while valuing dispensable production in trillions. She delves into real-life examples of innovative financial solutions from around the world, taking readers from rainforests to the Vatican, showcasing the critical role of this transformation in shaping planetary health and social stability.

In the episode, Paula also shares her remarkable journey, from her early aspirations as a writer to her long collaboration with the distinguished Captain Jacques Cousteau. They chat about her pivotal role in developing and managing two pioneering carbon markets, including the groundbreaking Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX) and China’s first pilot carbon market, the Tianjin Climate Exchange (TCX).

As always, we are open to your questions, comments, guest recommendations, or interest in participating in an episode.
